3 Score and 7 Days Ago....
.... Or make that 8 days .... I wrote an eulogy..... before that, I wrote an eulogy.... You would expect me to write an eulogy this time..... I should, but I can't make myself to write that anymore....
A blind year this is.... blind it is....
What do the chinese deem as a blind year? To make it simple, its when no solar new year (夏历新年) falls within the confines of a lunar year (农历)... This year, the solar year started about 5 days before the actual Lunar New Year and the next Solar New Year will be in February, after CNY... thus this year is blind.
People of long ago feared this kind of year, for it was said to be extremely inauspicious, or to put it simply, sipek bad luck... it was supposed to be characterised by natural accidents, unnatural accidents and death itself pays a lot of visits.
This year, death visited my family much too often (and to others also).... to the extent that the official mourning period hasn't ended for one when another has to begin. I would like to put it down to coincidence... but there have been too many occurences in and out. As of this date, 5 airplanes (mostly Boeing 737) have been downed in a short space of 1-2 months.
I would go on and on about this.... but what's the use? The past is the past.
Much has happened since my last posting, and for all of those who were or still are curious as to why I stopped blogging, all I can say is that I had my own reasons. Some people know what it is and I ask that you keep this to yourselves.
67 days on, What has changed? Let's see... someone introduced me to DotA (Defense of the Ancients) which although addicting, isn't fun without friends to chat with and play. Thus, I do not go on long battles with the whimsical and perpetually straightforward computer AI.
On the 8th of September at 4pm, I went to IDP (God knows what IDP stands for) and submitted an application form for UWA, the University of Western Australia in Perth, Australia since it was free and had no application fee. Mr. Soo, a senior counsellor, told me to wait about 3 weeks for their approval. 3 weeks to me wasn't a lot.. since I still have STPM to complete.
On the 9th of September, just before closing hours, Mr.Soo received a call saying that the application was approved, barely 24 hours into the application. He gave me a call on Saturday, informing me about it, and in the process also disturbing my sleep.... Why the heck has he to call at 8.50am when i just DotA'ed the night away.
I was later informed by Soo that no one applicant has got approval faster than me, making me a record setter at IDP Penang :P
Fast forward to today, and its exam time in CLHS. Trial Exams in CLHS are rather well known to kill rather than to test, it is of no wonder that I had to twist my brain here and there but to no avail, I don't possess the minds of the other ST's .....
Time does pass fast.... 7 years in CLHS in a blink of an eye, over, never to repeat itself.
And, if anyone is wondering why I chose Perth, there's only one simple reason, its cheap. Well, not cheaper than Malaysia itself, but cheaper than Melbourne, Sydney or Canberra for that matter.
